There is a song sung by Natalie Grant which has the line, "Lead me to the cross where your love poured out." This line is the inspiration for this poem. We see Jesus as being crucified so the sins of the world would be forgiven. Though that is a true statement, it was much more than that. Everything that Jesus is and was at the time was poured out. The Scriptures state, "I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax it is melted in the midst of my bowels."
Jesus allowed Himself to be poured out. Even as He did this, they gaped at Him with their mouths. They mocked Him consistently. They hit Him with their hands and with rods. They pulled His beard out by the roots. They tore His flesh with a scourge. In all that he endured, He did not try to defend Himself.
The pouring out of love started in Heaven. The Bible says that God so loved the world that He gave. God didn't take back what He gave the world. He gave it freely and for all. There is a not a man alive who cannot receive this gift.
What God gave is very important. He gave His only begotten Son. I have a son and I do not plan on giving him to anyone. I can imagine how hard it would be to give up your own son.
Why God gave is also important. That whoever believes on Him, (God's Son), should not perish but have everlasting life.

Love Poured Out
Strength has failed me under this massive charge
My body is like molten wax I can go on no longer
Feet are blistered blood oozes from every aperture
My pain is real and I cannot disregard the reason
In the garden I left my will to do the will of my Father
The salvation of mankind is what He wants
He sent me to do this task knowing what would happen
Man would reject me but I must keep going on
Surely men will love me and long to accept my atonement
Man is barbarous and only the kidnapped need a redeemer
For this cause I give my life to the entire earth
As the spear pierces me and the blood falls
You will see the water and the blood hit the dust
And just as I am about to give up the ghost
I will say forgive them father they don't know what they're doing
And as the spirit leaves you will see my Love poured out.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
