Eze 37:1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
Eze 37:2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
Have you ever seen a movie that is set in the desert where you see the bones of dead animals? What you see are bones that have been picked clean of any meat and sun dried and bleached white. The bones are as dry as they can be. I see a people that are dead spiritually and their bones are dry as they can be due to the fact that there is no meat left on these bones and the sun has dried them and bleached them white. There is absolutely no life left in them.
Eze 37:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
Only God knows for sure if these bones are able to live again as they once lived. God is the only one that can give life or take life for He is the creator of all life.
Eze 37:4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
Eze 37:5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
Eze 37:6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to these dry bones. God will cause them to live again. He will grow new flesh upon these bones that they might live again. The flesh is righteousness that has come to this dead people. They are no longer dry bones but now living beings made alive by the power and the glory of God.
Eze 37:7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
Eze 37:8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
When we do as the Lord commands us, things will happen according to God's plan and His Word. We see that the bones now have come together each bone to his bone, in other words each bone went to its proper place that was designated from the beginning. There also was a shaking going on and this is the Spirit of God moving upon these bones. After the bones came together and were put in their proper place, flesh came upon them. There is still no breath in these bones.
Eze 37:9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
Eze 37:10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
God told Ezekiel to prophesy not to the bones this time but to the wind. When this was done breath entered into the bones that now have flesh. Once the breath entered in they stood up on their feet as a mighty army.
Eze 37:11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
Eze 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
Eze 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
We see now who these bones are. God said these bones are the house of Israel who have lost all hope and have been cut off from their inheritance in God. God says He will open the grave and bring this people back to their home that God has given them (the land of Israel).
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
There are some that still live, even this day, who believe and follow the Lord Jesus. Some have gone to the grave and await the final resurrection by the voice of the Lord. Jesus Himself will descend once again, but this time with a shout that will cause all those who have died and are in the grave to receive flesh upon their dry bones. They will go to the place of their inheritance in the Lord Jesus. We who are still alive at this time will also go to the place of our inheritance in the Lord Jesus.
When we were dry and dead, God caused flesh to come upon us that we can be the righteousness of God. God gives us life that we can live more abundantly through the love of Jesus Christ. It takes the Spirit of the Lord to move us into our place. No matter how dry it is where you are right now always remember that God is the one that gives life. God can cause these bones to live once more as they lived before.
